Seminary Scholarship Requirements & Application

The McClendon-Hill Scholarship Foundation (MHSF) is a charitable, non-profit 501C3 foundation that awards scholarships to men and women seeking educational opportunities with accredited Christian seminaries in the United States.  The purpose of MHSF is to equip disciples for Christ in the fields of evangelism, missions and other areas of The Great Commission as Jesus Christ describes in the New Testament of The Holy Bible (Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:15).

The MHSF was created in 2024 to support our beliefs and to honor the late Elizabeth Ann McClendon and the late Clement Travis Hill & the late Edith Fredricka Hill who believed that all people should know and follow Jesus Christ in their daily lives.

After His baptism and ministry preparation, the first thing Jesus did for His ministry was to select, teach and equip His disciples so they could spread The Gospel to all people of all races throughout the world.  The purpose of the MHSF is to support those men and women that seek to serve God’s only Son, Jesus, with their lives and in their professions.  Spreading the word of God and teaching the ministry of Jesus Christ is of the utmost importance to a world that desperately needs His love, guidance, security and peace.

The scholarship will be a two-year renewable scholarship totaling $6,000.  $3,000 to be awarded the first year of seminary.  After completion of the first year, the performance of the candidate will be assessed.  If they have met the minimum requirements shown in the requirements section below, the scholarship will be renewed thereby applying $3,000 on their behalf for the second year to the seminary they attend.

Requirements:

  1. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America and must be a resident of the state of Alabama.
  2. The educational opportunity sought must be with an accredited Christian Seminary located in the United States of America.
  3. The applicant must have a minimum undergraduate aggregate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. The applicant must be accepted by an accredited Christian Seminary so the scholarship may be applied on their behalf directly to the seminary that they plan to attend.
  5. Students that have already begun their studies at Christian seminaries ARE eligible to receive a MHSF scholarship provided their current GPA at the seminary is equal to or above the minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  If these students have yet to receive any grades from the seminary, their selection eligibility will revert back to their final aggregate undergraduate GPA.  If the scholarship is awarded in their second year of seminary school, the scholarship will be for $3,000 for the second year only.
  6. If any student withdraws from the seminary before completing their course of work, their remaining scholarship funds for that year, if any, will be forfeited by the individual and will become the property of the seminary to be used as the seminary leadership deems appropriate.  If this occurs in the first year of the scholarship, the subsequent year’s scholarship will not be awarded to them.  These students will not be eligible for future scholarship consideration.  Instances of withdrawals due to extreme family or life hardship will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for future scholarship opportunities.
